some dreams live on in time forever
those dreams, you want with all your heart
and i will do whatever it takes
follow through with the promise i made
put it all on the line
what i hoped for at last would be mine
if i could reach,higher
just for one moment touch the sky
from that one moment in my life
i am gonna be stronger
know that i have tried my very best
i would put my spirit to the test
if i could reach
some days are meant to be remembered
those days we rise above the stars
so i will go the distance this time
seeing more the higher i climb
that the more i believe
all the more that this dream would be mine

Seldom, very seldom does complete truth belong to any human disclosure; seldom can it happen that something is not a little disguised,or a little mistaken.

Paulo Coelho once wrote this phrase in his book, which I happen to like a lot:
"The universe always helps us to fight for our dreams,no matter how foolish they may be. Our dreams are our own,and only we know the effort to keep them alive."
My friend, who shall go by the initials SC,let me in on her effort to chase a dream today.
SC had gone to a walk-in interview hosted by SilkAir this morning - to see if she stands a chance among the hundreds of interested applicants to be an air stewardess. Now,that was really something,in my opinion. It's like every little girl's dream,to fly in the sky,to go to those exotic places in the world and to meet interesting people whilst staying pretty the whole time. But not everyone dares to go beyond dreaming.
It's like somehow you'll come up with a list of self-qualities that you'll strike out one after another.
At the end of the day, what do we have left on the checklist that identifies us for who we are? Have we disqualified ourselves even before the game starts?
Now SC doesn't think herself pretty,feminine,poised,___ (add all stereotypes we attach to air stewardess here) But hey, that didn't stop her from giving it a shot. And God forbid but at the interview she met this other girl from our faculty whom we agreed is certainly pretty enough to probably make the mark. Talk about wanting to dig a hole in the ground and disappear. Still, she went through the interview, which according to her, requires you to stand up in the big room of ladies, introduce yourself and read some spastic passage that they provide about buckling your seatbelts. Okay,to me that's gonna take quite a bit of guts.
Dear SC,if you are reading this, way to go! I'm so proud of you!
Perhaps we should all take a leaf out of SC's book. After all, there are certain things that ought to be done when we are young. Time and tide waits for no man,or girl for that matter. Even if nothing good comes out of it,at least it would be an experience, one which you can perhaps even share with your grandchildren when you are older :)
Of course I have my own set of prettily conjured dreams too. And I'm hoping that one day they will come true.
