some dreams live on in time forever
those dreams, you want with all your heart
and i will do whatever it takes
follow through with the promise i made
put it all on the line
what i hoped for at last would be mine
if i could reach,higher
just for one moment touch the sky
from that one moment in my life
i am gonna be stronger
know that i have tried my very best
i would put my spirit to the test
if i could reach
some days are meant to be remembered
those days we rise above the stars
so i will go the distance this time
seeing more the higher i climb
that the more i believe
all the more that this dream would be mine

Today I made an attempt at exposing myself to some culture after reflecting that I’m fast becoming a migratory cultural desert these days *horror* >.<”
So I asked Alice along to the art museum to view the Botero exhibition and to catch a glimpse of Russel Wong’s famous photos. As the world bustles about with its activities on a Friday, we spent the whole afternoon immersing ourselves in the world of art.
The Botero exhibition is really good. It’s the first to be held in Asia so far. Fernando Botero’s oil paintings are so delightful to view with their depictions of chubby and rounded human/animal forms. Yup, think fat men, fat women, fat cats, even fat skeletons and you are on the right track. But the use of distortion and space compression in his paintings adds a nice touch of humanism to the characters. Prefer his paintings to his sculptures but Alice likes otherwise heh.
Alice used my hp to snap me with my favourite Botero painting here (one of the pillars at the entrance of the gallery with embossed pictures, can’t take the real thing of course haha). It’s titled Mlle Rivière, after Ingres, endears me to it somehow, can’t exactly describe why. She charmed me so much that I went to get the limited edition postcard set so that I can still view it in later days :)
Stopped by Olio Dome @ the museum for a tea break and also to escape from a mob of students on excursion. Yummy sandwiches, pizza and coffee, we didn’t know the servings were kinda large even after sharing haha,so stuffed!!
After recharging, we headed off to see Russel Wong’s celebrity photos. There they were, Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Beckham, Aishwarya Rai…even our dear MM Lee was up there for scrutiny on the wall. We particularly enjoyed viewing the gallery that exclusively displayed Wong's stills from Asian productions like House of Flying Daggers, Hero andCrouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Those movie publicity posters that you see, they are by his truly. Siewlin is so gonna regret that she’s not free to join us today haha. We hung around long enough such that halfway through, the gallery suddenly played us music from the movies. We were quite surprised but yeah pretty nice move overall :)
Yup,so head down to the museum if you’re free. Nice way to reward yourself if you’ve been working hard. Like me. Haha (^^)v
