some dreams live on in time forever
those dreams, you want with all your heart
and i will do whatever it takes
follow through with the promise i made
put it all on the line
what i hoped for at last would be mine
if i could reach,higher
just for one moment touch the sky
from that one moment in my life
i am gonna be stronger
know that i have tried my very best
i would put my spirit to the test
if i could reach
some days are meant to be remembered
those days we rise above the stars
so i will go the distance this time
seeing more the higher i climb
that the more i believe
all the more that this dream would be mine

Seldom, very seldom does complete truth belong to any human disclosure; seldom can it happen that something is not a little disguised,or a little mistaken.

Classes start today. Ntu comes alive again with the usual noise and laughter as students rush along on campus. Nothing can be more welcoming than seeing happy faces all round. The canteen crowd at six in the evening is still pretty amazing.
First person I saw when stepping into school just now was Sze Sen. Haha, what a coincidence. Happy homecoming!! Especially when you’ve been gone for a semester. Today’s also Pat’s sister Priscilla’s first day as a freshie. And Siew Lin’s sister Siew Yan too! Welcome to the Ntu family! It’s a nice place to grow and learn hehe.
How nice, there’s like this sense of belonging,as you see juniors coming to share the heritage of your alma mater. We may have left the school but we can take comfort in knowing that there’s always someone to carry on the school spirit and tradition. It makes you think back to the time when you’ve just stepped into the school yourself. I would love to grab those juniors and show them around for the fun of it. All these and more, even if I might be thought of as a freak displaying my love for the school.
I once attended a symposium and interviewed several Nantah alumni. What left a deep impression on me is the way they identify themselves with their school and speak of it with bursting pride. Yes,it is still controversial if the old Nantah has any links to Ntu. Though I would say that’s not the key issue here. Besides,it doesn’t bother us quite as much because we’re students in Ntu’s time and it is also Ntu that we are fond of. What I felt was worth reflecting is if we are able to do the same when we become alumni ourselves. Is your university simply an institution for learning to you? Or does it mean more? Perhaps we can stop and think about it.
So leaving you here with a rephrased quote from MM Lee (I can’t remember the exact one). He said something along the lines of; it isn’t good universities that make good students but good students and faculties that make good universities. :)
Sounds interesting! Would love to do a course like that in future, if only I could tear myself away from research..and the need for a mad degree just to do research. All the best to you, girl!
