some dreams live on in time forever
those dreams, you want with all your heart
and i will do whatever it takes
follow through with the promise i made
put it all on the line
what i hoped for at last would be mine
if i could reach,higher
just for one moment touch the sky
from that one moment in my life
i am gonna be stronger
know that i have tried my very best
i would put my spirit to the test
if i could reach
some days are meant to be remembered
those days we rise above the stars
so i will go the distance this time
seeing more the higher i climb
that the more i believe
all the more that this dream would be mine

In various relationships be it friendships or love relationships, if two people end up being close to each other, it is a matter of choice. Not fate, not destiny, not luck.
It is a choice made among others, some albeit even better options. But of course, who’s to say you’ve not made the best choice? Give yourself a pat on the back if you think you have. In some cases, if we do not have much of a choice,we pretty much just go for what is placed in front of us. Maybe that choice is the right one or it could be the wrong one. But well, you have to live with it. Because when that choice is made, there would always be trade-offs. It is something that has to be accepted for it is selfish to think we can have the best of both worlds. Sometimes sticking to one then is better than trying to do a balancing act between two or more. Because it is clear even to you that the scale in your heart will always be tilted.
How many times have we tried sticking to a person because we see so much of ourselves in that person? If two emotional needy people end up being close to each other, what appears to be mutual love and concern could in reality be an act of reliance. A case of I-only-need-you-and-you-alone. And then it becomes a cycle of indulgence. Telling you only good things about you, consoling you, pampering you. Not pointing out your faults, letting you whine about yourself, condoning you when you throw tantrums. Is this what is really good for you? Or is it just a way to keep you weak so that you will continue to stay with me and not break the sacred unspoken alliance? After all, hanging on is always easier than moving on. Maybe we do not realize it ourselves but from the sidelines, it seems twisted in a way because how can mutually sapping each other of energy and love be the right way to go? When you are pouring out care in excess, I question if that’s still called true care, and not loaded with something else.
If a relationship survives only on support, there will come a day when your world might collapse around you. So shouldn’t we build our relationships on something solid? It is not yesterday’s memories that glue the blocks together. It is what you can do today and what you are going to do tomorrow. We can criticize, laugh at, or scold each other because I know you know that our relationship is built on something more than words that carry the weight of a feather. I ask myself, have I helped you grown in our relationship so that even if I am not there one day you can still walk on by yourself. It is true that only someone who is happy can bring happiness to others. I hope I can make you happy in the little things I do. I hope I can bring happiness to you in the minutes, hours and days that we spend together.
hm. i agree with the point that we cant always say nice things to one another. best friends are not only supportive but they get to say what they think. i do agree that when the vicious cycle of saying only nice things continue, it feels like the receiver is only making full use to boost self ego. which might not be true . isnt it?
ey? which part might not be true? oops, you lost me there when you punctuated a full stop before 'which' kekeke.
actually it is hard to say,it is not only the receiver but also the giver who plays a major part too. it is really an interesting mix of interpersonal intentions and gratifications in psychology. i am intrigued.
