some dreams live on in time forever
those dreams, you want with all your heart
and i will do whatever it takes
follow through with the promise i made
put it all on the line
what i hoped for at last would be mine
if i could reach,higher
just for one moment touch the sky
from that one moment in my life
i am gonna be stronger
know that i have tried my very best
i would put my spirit to the test
if i could reach
some days are meant to be remembered
those days we rise above the stars
so i will go the distance this time
seeing more the higher i climb
that the more i believe
all the more that this dream would be mine

As I put on the black suit today to face my first interview in a very long time, somehow the gravity of what I was doing hit me. The weight of the certificates in my hands weighed a little more than they should, reminding me that this might possibly be what the years of education investment is going to culminate in. The corporate world. Away from the comfort and security of the school environment.
So yes,it was the best foot forward,in black heels of course. No heebie-jeebies actually because not new to interviews. But this one really takes the cake. Was an ultimate killer. Of the various types of interviews you can encounter, the type that adopts the scare tactic is possibly the worst. The interviewer was really harsh. So there I was,in the line of fire, being grilled on a hundred and one things. Possibly it was due to the position, so there was a need to place the interviewee in a stressful situation and to make demands, expecting you to demonstrate your capabilities in various ways. It was a dynamic exchange, had to field all the questions tactically, which I tried but aint sure if it was good enough for the interviewer. Thrilling but oh-so-intimidating at the same time.
But I have to give the interviewer credit for letting me reflect if this is what I am really after as a career. After all it is a brand new area I am exploring, away from my education background and all. Sure,it is not that difficult to find a job but what is more important is that it suits you and it is what you are after. As a good HR recruiter,it is key to find the person with the best fit for the job and to let you feel that the job is a best fit for you as well. Could also be the reason for the terribly stringent recruitment process that the board has. For a while there, aspiration, interest and talent have been so muddled up that I can’t seem to decide which of these to go for. To some extent it has now been made clearer to me the direction I should be heading.
So as I heaved a sigh of relief along with a smile rewarded by the interviewer at the end of the interview, overall I would say it was a good interview experience. Perhaps there is still the slight wistfulness inside since it is after all the first job that I had applied for. But I am just glad to be there today. At least I know that I had stood a chance at it.
glad u had a fulfilling interview experience. the two interviews i had were so casual, possibly because the profs were nice. many would kill to have such easy interviews, but how i wish i was slightly more slaughtered, just so i could have a feel of the real world whilst being a nymph. the next time i get an interview would be when i turn 30 or something, after grad school. i hope i'm well-equipped by then, to tackle tough interviews. congrats on your first!
